Application processing and decisions
Unfortunately, we cannot give the exact processing date in advance. The processing time depends on factors such as the number of applications in the queue and whether the application is processed manually or automatically.
Processing times also vary depending on the type of application, as different amounts of work are needed to check through different types of applications. Applications are processed in the order they are received.
- First applications are processed within about 2-3 weeks of receipt
- Adjusted applications are processed within about 1.5-3 weeks of receipt
- Fully unemployed renewal applications are processed within about two working days of receipt
Applications are processed in the order they are received. You can find more information on the processing of different applications here.
You can track the status of your application in eService.
Note: Remember to send in all the attachments needed straight away – incomplete applications take longer to process.
Processing of the application will continue within about 1-2 working days after the missing information has been received.
If the Unemployment Fund has all the information needed, the benefits processor will make a decision and any earnings-related allowances will be paid to you on the next possible payment date.
An application can be rejected for a number of reasons. You can see the reason for the rejection in the decision, which you can find in eService under: Decisions.
Wages for part-time work affect earnings-related allowance in the application period when the wages are paid. For example, if your salary is paid in September, it will affect September's application period, even the salary is paid for work done in July.
Working hours are also reviewed based on the number of hours paid in the application period.
Many factors affect the amount of allowance. Below is a list of the most common reasons why earnings-related allowance is not paid for the entire application period or why the amount of earnings-related allowance is less than you expected it to be.
-
Your job search is not active or a labour policy statement prevents payment (e.g. suspension period)
-
Holiday compensation paid at end of full-time employment has been periodised. The start of entitlement to daily allowances is postponed by the number of periodisation days.
-
A 7-day waiting period is set at the beginning of the maximum period for earnings-related allowance. Allowance is not paid for the waiting period.
-
There was a part-time work pay day during the application period, meaning that adjusted earnings-related allowance is paid.
-
Your tax card is for wages and salaries, in which case the withholding tax is at least 25% regardless of the original tax rate.
-
The income limit of your tax card has been reached, so the fund uses the additional percentage on the tax card.
To receive e-mail reminders of messages and decisions you must update your communication settings in the eService.
You can check and update your communication settings and e-mail address under the section "Personal Information" > "Contact Data"
You can view decisions in the Unemployment Fund's eService.
Log in and select "Decisions" from the top menu. If you do not open the decision within 7 days on the eService, it will also be sent to you by post.
