Waiting period
A waiting is always reapplied when the 12-month work requirement is met.
When the work requirement is met, your earnings-related allowance is recalculated and the maximum period for receiving allowance starts again.
The waiting period can only be built up from periods when you are entitled to earnings-related allowance.
If you work part-time, only the time you are unemployed counts towards your waiting period. Part-time working days do not give you full waiting period days, so it may take longer to build up the waiting period.
| Example |
If the full weekly working time according to the collective agreement is 37.5 hours, the 7-day waiting period is 7 x 7.5 = 52.5 hours. If part-time work is 20 hours a week, the waiting period is built up at 37.5 - 20 = 17.5 hours a week. The full 7-day waiting period is built up in 3 weeks, because 3 x 17.5 = 52.5 hours. |
The waiting period must be completed within 8 weeks.
